Deep Overbite Correction

What is a Deep Overbite?
What is a Deep Overbite? Dr. Sam Muslin, a Cosmetic Dentist in Santa Monica explains and talks about his Deep Overbite Correction treatment.

What is ea dep overbite?

Deep overbites are when the upper teeth close in front of the lower teeth and when this happens, none of the lower teeth are showing. When the upper teeth cover over the lower teeth the jaw is generally pushed back towards the ear and the face looks too short. Headaches, jaw pain, TMJ pain, thin lips, short lower face, recessive chin appearance, sunken face and other symptoms are associated with deep overbites.

Example of a Deep Overbite
Deep Overbite: In the top “before photo” the upper teeth hide the lower teeth and the patient’s face is short, round and square looking. These patients typically clench and grind their tooth, which causes the bite to get deeper.

How do you do Overbite Correction?

This patient’s overbite was corrected using high tech metal free solid porcelain crowns that are the strongest in the industry today. She also had some teeth treated with porcelain veneers in order to preserve her natural tooth structure. Some of her teeth already had crowns as you can see the black line around the crowns in the top photo. The bite was built using a device that simulates the movement of her mouth in order to custom build the overbite correction. This patient received a full mouth reconstruction that was combined with Dr. Sam Muslin’s unique Face Lift Dentistry treatment. The results have transformed her face and restored her with a more youthful and natural appearance.

Black Lines around Dental Crowns

The black lines are generally from oxidation of the metal alloy at the gum line. The goal was to remove all of the black lines, all of the metal and replace it with solid state of the art custom porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers. The way these crowns were constructed and the way they were bonded into position, the black lines around the crowns will not come back.

This patient has a short square jawed face from her deep overbite. Her jaw was closing too far when she put her teeth together and her lower jaw was also being pushed back. In the after photo, the patient has fuller lips, a longer face and total overbite correction with a full mouth reconstruction and the exclusive Face Lift Dentistry ® treatment.

Additionally, every photo is untouched and unaltered as the expressions, size and shape of the faces are matched. Again, Dr. Muslin does not treat children and this level of care is expensive.

However, treatment has been completed on plumbers, school teachers, administrators, Company Presidents. It is all a matter of the individual priorities of the patient. Some patients place great value in their health and appearance while other patients would rather spend their money on a new care and have a deep overbite.
