Underbite Correction without Surgery
This patient needed dental implants, porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers, a full mouth reconstruction that was all combined with Dr. Sam Muslin ‘s exclusive Face Lift Dentistry ® treatment. The coordinated effort of all of the dental technologies was implemented and in order to complete the treatment quickly and efficiently the plan required a high degree of organization. Under bite correction is not normally a form of cosmetic dentistry because cosmetic dentistry concentrates on the smile and under bite correction involves the TMJ, neuromuscular dentistry that is all combined with a full mouth reconstruction.
What is an Underbite Correction?
An underbite is when the lower teeth stick out in front of the upper teeth as she appears in the before photo. Her lower teeth are more prominent and her lower jaw looks larger than the upper jaw. The idea of underbite correction that is non-surgical has evolved over the years with some of the new technologies available today. Typically to correct an under bite, the patient will require jaw surgery to cut down the size of the lower jaw and get it to fit behind the upper teeth. The patient will also need to undergo years of braces in most cases. This patient needed just about every technology available today in order to experience a non-surgical under bite correction. The treatment is much faster, no braces and no surgery was required.
Older People Show Lower Teeth
Older people show lower teeth and younger people show upper teeth. In order for this patient to look younger, the plane of her occlusion had to be three dimensionally changed in order to have her upper teeth appear naturally. Notice that she has fuller lips and better facial support and she now looks like a more vibrant and younger person because you can see both upper and lower teeth when she is smiling.
Dental implants replace missing teeth and because of the healing time, dental implants make the treatment plan take a little longer. It would not have been a good idea long term to place her dental implants and put crowns on the dental implants immediately. Dr. Muslin realizes that this is a good “selling point” for the patients but beware, immediately loaded dental implants fail more often. It all depends on how dense the bone is when the dental implant is placed. If the bone is very dense, placing a crown on a dental implant immediately is OK.
She will look younger for the rest of her life, her lips will be fuller and the facial wrinkles we be reduced because of the support the teeth provide to her face. She speaks more clearly, looks happy and feels more comfortable every minute of every day. She said, “I can’t believe I waited this long and I am happy that I chose Face Lift Dentistry ®”.
Porcelain Veneers and Cosmetic Dentistry
This patient needed treatment that goes beyond the normal skill level of the cosmetic dentist. Dr. Muslin has trademarked Face Lift Dentistry ® to protect the public from any dentist without the knowledge or training, the technology or skills necessary to start calling him or her a Face Lift Dentist ®. These dentists have absolutely no clue as to the level of care required unless they get the proper training.
